About Ingrid
Ingrid Robinson, LMHC
In my practice I strive to understand my clients’ concerns and world views within the context of each of their societal and cultural frameworks. In college, I created my own course of study focused on multiple disciplines including psychology, feminist theory, and creative expression.
I created this major to explore the human experience through many lenses, with a focus on the complex reality that women, in particular, face while navigating society’s norms and expectations. I approach therapy through an intersectional and anti-oppression perspective. My focus is to help every person build on their own inherent awareness, personal experience, resilience, and intuition in order to help them move through life’s challenges with integrity, courage, and resolve.

Many issues that we face are universal in nature, and yet each individual comes to therapy with a unique set of circumstances, lived experiences, and societal/cultural contexts. Utilizing my training in humanist psychology, feminist theory, and my commitment to social justice, my goal is to empower each client to access their own intuition and resilience in the face of obstacles in order to chart their own path toward growth.
Parenting can be one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences that we face in life.
Being a parent myself, I am aware of the many transitions that can occur in our sense of identity, our lifestyle, and our relationships, as we embark on this journey. I work with people who are at all stages of the perinatal period from trying to conceive or dealing with infertility, pregnancy and all the joys and challenges it can hold, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMAD), the birth experience, as well as the postpartum period from birth through all stages of parenting.
My practice affirms that people of all gender identities and sexualities go through the process of pregnancy and family building. Families can take shape in varied and beautiful ways.
Resilience comes in many forms and the capacity for healing and growth is inherent in all of us, yet there are moments in our lives when we can benefit from additional support in accessing our innate wisdom and strength.
I am extensively trained in therapeutic approaches that focus on supporting people recovering from trauma. They include Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Lifespan Integration Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
Mindfulness is a moment-by-moment awareness of our emotions, body sensations, and thoughts through a gentle, non-judgemental lens.
I am well practiced in mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) and mindfulness-based self-compassion (MBSC). My mindfulness practice informs every aspect of my therapeutic approach and I use the skills in session with clients.
Behaviors that are problematic are often developed as coping mechanisms when people are trying to deal with overwhelming emotions or painful interpersonal relationships. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a structured therapeutic approach helping people to learn emotional regulation skills and more effective problem-solving strategies.
I am trained by Behavior Tech in full-fidelity DBT and have been a member of Middle Path Counseling, a collective of individual therapists providing fidelity to the model DBT, since 2019.
